I read this one in a less than 24-hour time period. It's one of my favorite books of the year now. And I didn't expect that. The Author is not well-known but I was intrigued by the synopsis and the illustrations (which are awesome by the way) and the book trailer.
*SPOILER*
So this is the story about Samantha, a young and beautiful woman... read the synopsis.... She is troubled by the mysterious noise that she is constantly hearing and there is nothing she can do about it or make it stop or anything. Doctors have no idea what it is and where it comes from. The noise goes away eventually but together with the noise goes away Samantha's life. She loses her "life" and now nobody remembers who she is and there are uninvited tenants in her apartment.... read the synopsis :) .... And that is the point where the actual story starts. Samantha is now a "placeless", she is no longer registered in the System which is a thing that controls lifelives on the planet. The System is now gonna be trying to erase her. You'd think it's somewhat close to Matrix but it's really not. When you are reading the book the whole concept comes very original.
There are also two other parallel Earths, Beta and Gamma and our Earth is called Alpha. So people from Beta for the reasons of not wanting to die on the planet which was wasted, are now trying to relocate to Alpha and invade the planet. So the soldiers from Beta were actually the ones who took Sam's "life" away and made her "placeless". Now, as both Samantha and the soldiers are all "placeless", and the System is trying to erase them all, they have to learn how to survive. But one thing that differs Samantha from the soldiers is that she doesn't want them to take over the Alpha-planet and that is basically the main twist.
*END OF SPOILER*
I don't know if I made any sense and if I didn't then go and read the book :))
In any way, I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was original and nicely-paced and kept me wondering and wanting to read more, so much that I basically read it over night.
Would I recommend it? Hell yes! :) A solid 5 stars.
